PAS film night 3rd March

The next meeting of Peterborough Astronomical Society will be on March 3rd.This month we won't be having a guest speaker instead we will be showing a astro themed dvd on the screen followed by a chance to have a social get together and talk all things astro over a cup of tea.

The meeting will take place at the Copeland centre at 19.30

Observing evenings at Sacrewell Farm

The society has been given permission to hold observing evenings at the Sacrewell Farm & Country centre just off the A47 at Thornhaugh near Wansford.Phil Shepherd and myself went up to Sacrewell to meet up with the manager and checkout the site and we think it will make an ideal site to observe from.

We hope to start fortnightly observing sessions at Sacrewell next month if clear more info will be available at January's meeting.

I hope you will all do you best to attend these observing evenings and make them a success.

Noctilucent clouds over the observatory

I popped out late Friday night to see if it was clear and was greeted by the best display of Noctilucent clouds i've seen this year.These clouds are formed on the very edge of our atmosphere and the Sun still illuminates them long after it has set making them glow.
